TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mining and Energy Agency in Tuban Regency, East Java has recorded total of 136.94-hectare illegal mining site. The sites, mostly stone mines, are spread across seven sub districts in Tuban.
“Such as kumbung stone,” Tadjudin Tibyo, the Head of Mining and Energy Agency on Sunday, October 18.
Data from East Java Mineral Resource and Energy Agency (ESDM) shows different figure of the total area of the illegal mine. According to ESDM’s data in 2012, the total area reaches 1,619 hectares.
The representative of Indonesian Advocacy Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA) of East Java, Miftahul Huda, urges the government of Tuban Regency to be more transparent about law enforcement towards the illegal mines.
